RSS

Overviewhttps://www.compliance.ai/api/docs/rss-integration-guide/

  • Compliance.ai offers multiple solutions to integrate with the platform. RSS is the quickest and easiest way to retrieve enriched content available through Compliance.ai, and then integrate the content with third party solutions
  • RSS is supported based on the RSS 2.0 standard, and integrations are configured through the developer platform. These feeds can be used to review resulting documents in popular RSS reads or to integrate with various platforms you may use in your organization, such as your GRC or document management systems
  • There are three steps required to integrate using RSS feeds
    • First, create alerts to retrieve the RSS link
    • Second, use the default RSS elements for your integration
    • And lastly, configure document attributes to pass through RSS

Create an RSS feed

  • The three steps to create an RSS feed are outlined in the Compliance.ai RSS Integration Guide found on our Developer Platform
  • Each step is outlined in the user guide, and in this video we will do a walk through of each one
  • Let’s go to the application complete the first step
  • To begin leveraging a curated view of Compliance.ai content within your platform, you can create tailored searches and establish alerts
  • To go more into details on using the search feature and being able to create alerts, we have separate training videos for you to review.
  • Once you have refined your search criteria and created an alert or multiple alerts, you can retrieve an RSS URL for each one and plug it into any RSS reader or use it to integrate with your GRC or document management system
  • [show the xml results in browser and in rss reader] Here is a quick way to validate the results in xml format on a browser

Integration

  • Every RSS link includes a token specific to your integration and includes the default attributes that define a document based on the RSS 2.0 element requirements.
    • By default, the RSS feed will include documents that were published within the past 5 days
  • The full list of default document attributes provided with each RSS feed can be found in the RSS Integration Guide on our developer platform
  • There are a few quick troubleshooting steps you can follow to ensure a smooth integration
    • First, plug in the RSS URL in your browser like we did just a while back. Check to see that it doesn’t include any errors in the XML result and the feed shows the same documents as the search results of the alert
    • Another one is to make sure the “.compliance.ai” is whitelisted on the server from which RSS requests are initiated
    • Third, there should be no pre-validation errors within the feed. You can use any validator to do this, and we have an example of one in our guide.
      • Please note that certain row/data validation issues shown by the validator can be ignored if the feed includes extended fields
    • And lastly, check the mapping fields to make sure they match the named attributes expected

Configuration

  • In addition to the default elements, Compliance.ai also offers configuration of the document attributes received through RSS. These configurations can be discussed and implemented during the integration process, and will be passed through as extended elements.
  • The full list of document attributes that can be configured is available on our  Document Search Response Schema page in our Developer platform
    • Here we have all the document attributes available to be passed through as extended elements
  • Once an alert is created in the application, you will work with the Compliance.ai team to set up the attribute mappings based on your requirements and then receive a new Configuration ID  also known as UUID
    • Your overall RSS feed can also be configured to show a certain amount of documents and a specific published in past “X” amount of days
    • Additionally, the name and length of each default and extended elements can also be configured
  • Once you have the new Configuration ID (UUID), add it to the end of the RSS link for the existing alert and review the documents that meet your alert criteria and configurations
    • [show xml results with new attributes in browser]
    • In this example, we will use the same RSS link we viewed earlier in the video.
      • Notice how these results do not have an information on which agency published this document
    • Now, we add the UUID to the URL to get the results that include the new configurations we made
      • With the updates, we now see that a new document attribute called “agency” is available in the results as an extended element.
    • The flexibility with these configuration allows us to get many more details for each document and then tailor them to your requirements

Closing

  • The RSS integration method is the fastest way to pull enriched content available on Compliance.ai, and then integrate the content into third party solutions.
  • The default configuration can get you up and running within hours, and if needed – additional configurations can also be setup
  • This allows you to create multiple RSS feeds at various granularities to help you stay on top of the constant regulatory changes that are published
  • For more integration options, check out our “Integration Options with Compliance” video or dive deeper into the Basic Training for each one.
